COVID-19 outbreak in Kamloops, BC

Kamloops, BC – November 6, 2020.

On November 6, Interior Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak at Royal Inland Hospital which is located in Kamloops, BC. The outbreak was detected and seven cases of infected people were confirmed.

According to Interior Health, there is no evidence that the outbreak took place within the public or clinical staff. Moreover, the seven confirmed cases developed among the staff of the PCT construction site which is located on the exterior of RIH. 

The infected individuals are currently self-isolating and Interior Health is actively working with EllisDon who is the Patient Care Tower (PCT) contractor in order to minimize the spread of the virus. Furthermore, based on an environmental health inspection it was determined by Interior Health’s medical health officer that safety protocols are in place and the possibility of further exposure at the workplace is low.
